A widow falls victim of the machinations of a so called spiritualist, and he in turn becomes aware of another plot at the expanse of the widow.
Given the usual standard of this type of b-movie paranormal thriller, the set-up of this film is quite good and there is enough tension, particularly in the first part of the film, to make it suspenseful and enjoyably mysterious. However, much like other specimen of the kind, the supporting characters are very too dimensional and in the end the slow pace eventually drains The Amazing Mr. X of practically all of its positive assets, until its fading out into oblivion. – 3/5
