9 – DJANGO UNCHAINED by Quentin Tarantino (2012) / Shutter Island, Revolutionary Road, Inception…there’s no shortage of great DiCaprio movies between 2006 and 2012. But his supporting role as the white plantation owner in Django Unchained, a Southern gent whose stubbornness and bigotry is parallel to his incredible charm, is by all means one of the most memorable DiCaprio performances of all time, and should be skipped ahead to. The stand-out moment in which the refusal of a handshake initiates a bloody finale is one of the most ingenious Tarantino moments ever, and it is inituated by DiCaprio’s sinister baby-face smile.
