Filmmaker Cristian Mungiu will preside the Cinéfondation and Short Films Jury of the 70th Cannes Film Festival, which will take place on May 17-28.

Mungiu is an eminent representative of the Romanian New Wave, one of the most exciting waves in contemporary cinema.
His second feature 4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days won the Palme d’Or in 2007. Throughout the years, he has won other awards in Cannes. His 2012 film Beyond the Hills was awarded for Best Screenplay and Best Actress (Cristina Flutur and Cosmina Stratan). His entry at last year’s festival, Graduation, earned Mungiu the Best Director prize.
