KVIFF 2017: Casey Affleck to receive Festival President’s Award in Karlovy Vary

The Karlovy Vary International Film Festival (June 30-July 8) will honor the Academy Award-winning actor Casey Affleck with its Festival President’s Award. This is an award given by the festival to actors, directors, and producers who have contributed in a fundamental way to the development of world cinema.

In addition to receiving the award, Affleck will introduce the film A Ghost Story together with director David Lowery and producers Toby Halbrooks and James M. Johnston. Affleck, who recently won the Oscar for Best Actor for his performance in the critically acclaimed Manchester By the Sea (directed by Kenneth Lonergan), previously worked with Lowery on Ain’t Them Bodies Saints. The film was screened at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival in 2013.
