So many films, so little time. CineCola highlights a number of UK (and, possibly, Ireland) theatrical releases for the month of October 2017.
1 – BLADE RUNNER 2049 by Denis Villeneuve (USA, 2017)

Denis Villeneuve directs the sequel to the beloved and celebrated Ridley Scott 1982 sci-fi feature Blade Runner. Set thirty years after the events of this first film, Blade Runner 2049 stars Ryan Gosling as Officer K, on the quest to find Rick Deckard (played by the returning Harrison Ford), a former LAPD blade runner who has been missing for 30 years. Blade Runner 2049 also stars Robin Wright, Jared Leto, Mackenzie Davis, and Ana de Armas.
2 – BLOOD SIMPLE by Joel and Ethan Coen (1984, USA)
UK re-release date: October 6 (limited)
UK audiences will have the opportunity to see the Coens’ Blood Simple for the first time. Studiocanal is releasing Blood Simple: Directors’ Cut in a brand new 4K restoration overseen by the Coens themselves. Blood Simple is a neo-noir about a private eye (M. Emmentt Walsk) hired by a bar owner (Dan Hedaya) to kill his unfaithful wife (Frances McDormand) and her lover (John Getz). Already a critical hit among released, the Coens made a few alterations and recut the film in 2001. This is the version that is theatrically re-released.
